Where is the 10th WHSG meeting?

The 10th WHSG meeting will take place in Sackville, NB, Canada in August 2024. The meeting co-chairs are Julie Paquet (Environment and Climate Change Canada) and Diana Hamilton (Mount Allison University).

How to participate?

There are many ways to take part in the conference! Share your research through a poster or presentation, and participate in the workshops and symposia. If you are just interested in attending to observe, and meet fellow shorebird enthusiasts, there will also be opportunities for you to register. We will also be looking for volunteers to help during the conference, to make sure that everything runs smoothly, and we would love to have your help.

What are the languages of the meeting?

Mainly Spanish and English. Oral presentations can be done in English, Spanish, French, or Portuguese. Still, English or Spanish are encouraged because we will only have simultaneous translation services for these languages.

How to get to Sackville?

There are two possible airports: Moncton Airport (recommended) and Halifax Airport (larger airport, with more flight options, but further away). Within Canada, it is possible to take the train. More information here.

How to know if I need a visa to come to Canada?

To see whether or not a travel visa will be required to travel to the conference, please refer here.

The organizing committee will provide invitation letters to those requiring them for visa applications.

When do I need to submit my abstract?

Where can I stay?

Newly renovated residence rooms at Mount Allison University will be available for all conference attendees. Other accommodation options in Sackville are limited, so we strongly recommend you consider staying in the residence. More information here.

Where to eat in Sackville?

Sackville has limited restaurants (2 cafes, 2 Korean restaurants, 1 Kurdish restaurant, 3 pizza places, and 2 Canadian restaurants). A meal hall, where you can sign up for a daily meal plan (49.45 CAD for three meals/day) is located at the residences at Mount Allison University, within a 5-minute walk from all meeting rooms.
